Reunion ?

There has been this very interesting idea ( well interesting is not the right word. One should say freaking amazingly cool. To make better effect you can put a various mix of fuc*, shit and other swearing words in between :) ). No seriously it's bloody marvelous. It would really make my summer to see you guys again after all those ( 3 ) years. Shit, time runs fast.
Anyways, i think we need to approach this systematically so that it actually happens. In previous periods i have talked to various people. Often the idea of meeting with some of them was brought up. So for example last year in the middle of January i had serious intentions to meet some of my Second years. However as it always happens, real life comes in between and then in the middle of August you simply realise you are busy for the next two weeks and it ain't gonna happen.
I really don't want this to happen this time.
So let's see where are we at :
Problem no 1. Xiangming doesn't have a passport. We should encourage him to renew it as soon as possible.
Second thing is the time and date.
When are we meeting. There was idea of August. I was thinking about 2-3 weeks, depends how much time you guys have.
We should agree on definite date sometime soon, i think. What are your suggestions.
The second thing is the location. While we all agree it should be somewhere in our beloved Europe. We should be more exact though.
As far as i know Xiangming prefers UK.
Herman said he prefers Easteren Europe. This makes some sense, since everything is generally cheaper there.
However there is one limitation. Xiangming needs a Visa.
So basically this leaves us with 3 options.
a) We go to norway ( i don't think anyone 's for it, so we can just erase it )
b) UK and since it's in the Schengen area the rest of EU. We could also travel along somewhere. Although i would prefer chilling on a beach somewhere ;)
c) We go to Slovenia. If we decide for this option you could stay at my place, but you would get no luxury ;). We don't really have a guest room or anything like that (almost nobody has it here) so you would need sleeping bags. If that's not a problem then you are more than welcome. Or we can just visit some of the nice stuff in Slovenia. Although i must warn you Slovenia doesn't have much seacoast and it's no match for Croatia's islands, where most of Slovene population spends their holidays. Of course this isn't an option ( Xiangming's visa, remember )

My experience, bureaucracy is very slow. So we should decide soon and then one of us should fill in the forms so xiangming is going to be able to get his visa.

What are your thoughts on this ?

Chill out and respect !

And please do post something on this blog. It feels like it's mine and not FH102 at all...

Facebook ?

Well, i had no clue, which title should i give to this post, so i decided to rant why facebook doesn't want to import this blog ? As Xiangming would put it : Stupid. It's so stupid. Don't you understand ?
Seriously. I copy - pasted RSS feed link from my opera RSS Feed organizer ( yes it's true, i dual use Opera and Firefox. Unfortunately Firefox has one nasty bug with flash , and after some time i really started to like opera as well, so now i use both) and it refuses to work. I spent about 30 minutes on this, googled it thoroughly and still doesn't work. argghh. annoying.

If i decide to ignore previously mentioned annoyance ( and a couple of others )
i am close to perfect. I take all the exams very easily, with lowest possible level of stress and studying and it keeps on working out for me!
I have also been massively partying for the past two weekends. There was no good reason actually. But it was fun. The only annoying thing is always waking up for lunch and then feeling so tired for the rest of the day.

I decided to go to a para gliding course (yet another time). It's very annoying, cause there is nobody doing it in Ljubljana, which means i would need to drive about 80 km each day ( which is quite a bit for me ). I will try to get some time and just do it.

In the last couple of weeks i managed to fully regain this chill out feeling, which i had back at RCN but was somehow lost in the middle of exams, other school work, stress and time constraints.
It feels SO good.

Also i am looking forward to trip to Paris in the begging of April. It's gonna be so much fun. I am going with Katka, my co-year from RCN. I think it will be fantastic seeing her again. Paris is said to be lovely as well. It really fits into all this chilling out mode. I will write a couple of lines about this again at some point in life.

I started making plans for the summer ( that is where will i be chilling instead of working ). There is this idea of FH102 reunion somewhere this summer. I hope it happens. Stay tuned !

Sick

Last weekend the holidays have ended. Too bad..
Finally i have had a nice skiing weekend.
Actually it would suck for most people.. It was foggy ( visibility around 20-25 meters ) on the first two days. It was possible to see maybe about 3 seconds in front of you.
Some people might hate it, but it added something to the adrenalin, especially the first few runs.. A sample of my thoughts..
"Ok i am skiing... going good... oops didn't see this jump coming.. luckily didn't fall.. see. big orange thing coming.. oh, it's a snow gun. Wait, it's on my left.. shouldn't it be on my right.. oh what's that other thing coming towards me... aha .. it seems like... a FENCE ! Turn left, NOW !!!... phiu that was close.... WOW ! that was a bloody BIG jump ! ... "

The good thing is you couldn't see many people on the track ( the fog obviously ), so it gave you a false feeling you can drive fast and don't need to avoid anyone... that's not completely true.. and suddenly you start seeing black dots becoming bigger and bigger.. also you don't know exactly where the ski ground stops.
Anyways it was fun !

Other than that, i got sick a couple days later. I had a sore throat and said whatever went to classes ( had an exam) but in the middle of the morning i started shaking and feeling freezing cold, so i went home. After that i had about 60 hours of fever, soar throat, headaches and using massive amounts of tissues without any help. I still have mild symptoms, but feel so grateful the worse is over.

Tomorrow is a new day. Enjoy it, wherever you are.

Crazy?

I remember the times when matt & myself with some other fellow RCNUWC people jumped in the fjord. There were several of occasions to do it. Those were most joyous, definitely some of the properly chilled moments. I will always remember them.

To move back to the future. Last Saturday Peter, a great friend down here in Slovenia and I thought of doing something a little bit crazy. A group of 5 squeezed in a car and at 1 am in the morning we drove down to Croatian coast ( about 120 km, 2 hrs drive ) and went for a midnight walk, and climax of the evening, night swim. It was about -13 degrees at my place, but at seaside it was about +2 ˚C. Water had about 8˚C. Even though it was a bit challenging as the entrance to water was slow, it was necessary to walk into it, and not just a simple fast jump...
The annoying part was sea urchin. I stepped on one of them during my second swim (it was a very short swim though). It itched a bit and it was a little bit painful trying to get all 19 prickles out.

Probably there are some people who ( the same thing at RCN ) think i am a little bit lunatic to do such a thing.

However there are people even crazier than myself. Take this guy for example. His name is Martin Strel, and he is a Slovenian marathon swimmer. In 90s ( at about age of 40 ) he restarted his professional swimming carrier.
His greatest achievements are :

Europe - Danube River, June 25th - August 23rd, 2000
1867 miles (3004 kms) in 58 days - a new world record in distance swimming. Martin was the first person to swim the entire Danube River from source to estuary. This brought him into the Guinness Book for the first time.

Europe - Danube River, July, 2001
Martin became the first person to swim 313 miles (504 kms) non-stop in 84 hours 10 minutes, setting another world record for the furthest distance swum.

USA - Mississippi River, July 4th - September 9th, 2002
Martin swam the entire length of the Mississippi River, a length of 2360 miles (3797 kms) in 68 days. The project was entitled Eye to Eye. Again Martin became the first person to swim the river from source to estuary. He broke his own record and entered the Guinness Book of World Records again.
Then in 2003 he was nominated by the wordlwide media houses for the prestigious LAUREUS Award in Monte Carlo. Martin´s Mississippi swim is one of the records featured in a video: 25 Awesome Records produced by OLN-Outdoor Life Network Channel.

Argentina - Paraná River, Nov 15th - Dec 8th, 2003
Martin made it in all the way from Iguazzu Falls to the center of Buenos Aires in the Rio de La Plata. Becoming the first man to have swam the entire 1200 miles (1930 kms) of this tricky South American river. He was swimming from dawn to dusk, and averaged over 80 kms per day.

China - Yangtze river, June 10th - July 30th, 2004
Martin Strel surpassed his record from the Mississippi with swimming 2488 miles (4003 kms) of the longest Chinese river and earned another entry in the Guinness Book of Records.

Apparently this is not enough for him. Today he started with the greatest challenge of his career - swimming the Amazon.
He is going to swim for 70 days and hopes to make 5,430 km in that time.

Is this crazy / cool or what ?

Happy new year !

Hey !

New year has finally arrived !

I had lots of fun celebrating it, which can be verified by all the sniffing and coughing i managed to get in the process ;)

Seriously it's been very busy night. I traveled to Maribor with my friends. We celebrated outside (there was concert on the main town square), with fantastic fireworks.

After that we went to a disco till 4 am, and afterwards obviously some sleep. Managed to wake up at 8 am and then skiing till 4 pm, by then i felt pretty damn tired.
After that drive home for 2 hrs, and cinema is a must.
So i got home at about 11 pm, feeling pretty tired.

But it was outright cool.
Would post more details but as usually i am in a hurry ( isn't just about everyone in a hurry these days ?), so all i can do now is wish all of you a happy new year, with lots of adrenalin ( only if you like it), new adventures, fun stuff, also success in whatever you do, to find your true love ( or keep it if you are that lucky ), oh, and obviously health, stay healthy and don't jump from high cliffs - it's just not good for ya :)

Have fun !
